CFP Ethics Program – 2-Year Reset & IAR Ethics CE
CFP-eligible Ethics programs are designed to reset on a 2-year cycle, allowing advisors to retake and receive credit on an ongoing basis. However, there is an important distinction between how completions are counted for CFP CE versus NASAA (IAR) CE after the first time the course is taken.
How the Reset Works

Why? NASAA does not permit the same course to be reported for IAR CE credit more than once. After your initial completion, the course will continue to satisfy your CFP Ethics CE requirement upon each reset — but it will not count toward your IAR Ethics CE requirement for any future completions.
What This Means for You
If you need to fulfill your IAR Ethics CE requirement beyond your first completion of this course, you will need to complete a different IAR-eligible Ethics course.

Additional IAR Ethics CE options are available in the CE catalog. To locate them:
- Navigate to Continuing Education > CE Catalog
- Filter by Type: IAR
- Toggle "Only Ethics" to on
This will display all available Ethics courses that qualify for IAR CE credit.
